(donated furry friends will differ from those pictured)

August 7th, 2021

9AM till 12pm

Celebration Parade & Festival are Open to the Public with Free Admission and Will Be Held in the Parking Lot of

1414 E 103rd St

Kansas City, MO 64131

WHAT TO EXPECT @ THE PARADE & FESTIVAL?

This family-friendly, public event is for the entire KC metro community to join! Nearly 1,000 children who have suffered from abuse and neglect will be the "stars" of the celebration parade & will receive a gift of comfort. Together as individuals, families, and groups, we can come together for this moment to show our community's children that they matter and they are loved. We encourage all ages to join in. Have your family or group make and bring homemade signs with words of affirmation! Immediately following the parade the festival of bounce houses, games, and food trucks are open to everyone!

SUMMER OF LOVE OBJECTIVE

Our 3 Fold Why

1. Victimized children have traumatic backgrounds, so their top need and desire are to "connect". By providing a "celebratory experience" as well as a gift of comfort we can provide an environment where victimized children can feel loved and safe. They have often never been told their value and that they matter.  Giving the gift of connection and a feeling of love will last that child a lifetime!

2. Caregivers are rarely told thank you for taking care of our community's kids. Fostering is a difficult journey and for those who sign up to do it for the right reasons (majority by the way), it takes a lot of courage and sacrifice. These families are rarely ever told thank you. As a community, it is imperative that we say thank you to these courageous caregivers!

3. Police & first responders are often the first ones on the frontlines witnessing the abuse and neglect of children. First responders are most often present during domestic violence reports and the dramatic events that take place when children are brought into protective care. This often causes children to have negative experiences and memories with law enforcement.  We desire to help forge NEW memories and experiences for children by enabling first responders to hand out the gifts of comfort!

Through the generous support of sponsors and donors, we can create an experience for a child to remember! Your donation helps us expand our impact!

We are honored to have you join us in giving gifts of the heart!
